Day 33 – 21 May 2009 – Wood

photo

Got some nice quarter sawn white oak for the stem and transom.  When I saw how good the white oak for the stem was, with its interesting figuring, I changed plans and decided to cut the stem from solid wood rather than saw it into thin strips and laminate it.

I miscalculated the quantity of oak board needed to make the transom and will need to go back for some more.
